"As those of us leading foundations  and nonprofits know, entering into a consulting partnership with individuals who truly understand our needs and aspirations can be a hit-or-miss endeavor. The Faraja Fund Foundation’s board members, who reside across the U.S., came together for the first time in person this past April to consider some big issues – namely, a new program we are launching in Tanzania—the first of its kind. Julie led us through a two-day process where consensus was the goal, taking us to a new place! She did her homework, fully immersing herself in our mission and work, gathering information, thoughts, and perceptions from board members; really digging into our why and our passion. Julie exceeded our expectations when we convened in person - she completely got us. The result, dare I say, is transformational."

                     --Jeryl Levin, Executive Director

    Wiregrass Foundation

"The work Julie and her team did with the Wiregrass Foundation was nothing short of transformational. Had it not been for the structure and expertise Julie provided, I seriously doubt many of our grantees in our nonprofit Capacity Building program would have developed to current levels."

                  -- Barbara Alford, former CEO

Julie is a highly respected, transformational leader and change agent with more than 30 years of experience in the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors, distinguished in her ability to connect complex ideas that have seemingly unrelated parts and order them in ways that help a wide range of stakeholders with diverse goals get on the same page. Her contagious enthusiasm and passionate belief in collaboration inspires people to come to the table, engage in the conversation, and make meaningful contributions. Julie’s field-tested expertise in such areas as network and coalition strengthening, community partnership-building, education, arts and culture, economic and youth development, and environmental justice, as well as gender and health equity, has helped numerous nonprofits and foundations develop and implement strategic plans, design new business models, strengthen infrastructure, and evaluate programs.

Prior to joining Provisio Partners as Chief Advisory Services Officer in 2023, where she connected technological innovation to organizational mission and purpose, and re-vitalizing her independent strategic consulting work through Simpson consulting services (Scs) at that time, Julie built and grew the Nonprofit Effectiveness practice at TCC Group for over a decade. At this national social sector consulting firm dedicated to partnering with leaders to solve complex social problems, she led client projects with the Wikimedia Foundation, the American Association for People with Disabilities (AAPD), UnidosUS, the Walton Family Foundation, Prosperity Now (formerly Corporation for Enterprise Development), the Children’s Defense Fund, Girls Inc., American Jewish World Service (AJWS), The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the SAMIS Foundation, Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies, Virginia Union University, National Action Network, FPWA, Indiana Black Expo, National Audubon Society, NAMI, Ada S. McKinley Community Services, Prep for Prep, and more.

Julie previously served as the Founding Executive Director of the Cricket Island Foundation in New York City, which empowers young people to become leaders of social justice in their communities and the world around them. She also co-founded Benevolent.net, a philanthropic social network fostering direct connections between donors and those in need, and, in Chicago, served as the Executive Director of Urban Gateways, was the Founder and Executive Producer of the DanceAfrica Chicago Festival, and the Founder and Executive Director of Columbia College Chicago’s Center for Community Arts Partnerships.

An active author and speaker, Julie has published multiple  articles in scholarly journals and has presented at many national and international conferences including Grantmakers for Education, Grantmakers for Health, Mission Capital, The Funders Network, Independent Sector, Grantmakers for Effective Organizations, and Forefront. Julie received her Master’s in Educational Policy and Curriculum Development, and her M.F.A. in Choreography and Performance from New York University after receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Art History from Oberlin College.
